HAND DYED WOOL PROCESS & RUG HOOKING DEMONSTRATION
Judy was first introduced to rug hooking in 2013 by Lisa Chaloner, the wife of her minister at the church. Her hooking would frequently come up during her husband’s sermons which piqued Judy’s curiosity and she approached her about taking her classes. After learning the basics, Judy was on her way, and was hooked herself to this new art that she had never heard of before.
The cold winters of New England (where traditional rug hooking began) allowed Judy a lot of time to perfect her hooking and learn more about it.
After about a year, Judy wanted to learn to dye the wool herself. She took a dyeing class and found that dyeing wool was as much fun hooking.
Judy is very passionate about her hooking and dyeing and not only loves to show it off but to let others know about this wonderful art. She has taught classes on Dataw Island through the Visual Arts Club.
Judy moved to Dataw Island outside of Beaufort, from New Hampshire two years ago with Steve, her husband of 30 years. She has 2 daughters, that live in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
