 Traditional Meets Contemporary:

A Look at the Heritage of Traditional Quilts and their Influence in Contemporary Design

From her background as a curator of the exhibition “Quilts Uncovered: Treasures from Genesee Country Village and Museum”, “Paralax Views” and “Quilts 20/20”, Pat Pauly gives an expansive look at the long history of quilt making, and its change and rebirth in the twenty-first century in art quilts. Presenting over 400 images in the span of an hour, she takes a fast-paced look at the craft that has endured in America for nearly 250 years. Hold on to your seats.

Pat Pauly designs contemporary quilt works with strong compositions coupled with modern interpretation. Her work in fiber art, which began in the 1980s, stems from a background and love of art and design. An award-winning artist, Pat Pauly’s art quilt studio in Rochester, New York.

A sought-after lecturer and teacher in contemporary fiber arts, Pat Pauly shares her wealth of knowledge from decades of working in design. Her work is recognized nationally and internationally for her work that evokes natural forms that are bold and graphic. Her art quilts have been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions.

Her workshops focus on design and technique, as well as when to apply the rules, and when to toss them out. Pat Pauly’s studio is in Rochester, New York.
