Program: "Little Quilt, No Big Deal"

Speaker: Kellie Willey

Kellie is from Sacramento California. We are sharing her with Sea Island Quilters which allows us to attend their lecture and workshop (which will be different from ours).

Does small-scale piecing intrigue you but you aren't sure how to start? Lecture includes many useful tips and techniques on how to create a miniature quilt including drafting your own pattern, fabric selection, accurate cutting and piecing, free motion quilting tips and useful tools to make the job easier. Lecture will also include several small quilts.

Why do I make tiny quilts? Mostly because they are tiny! I have always been drawn to miniatures. I live in a tiny (950 square feet) 2 bedroom home and don't have much space to put large quilts. My small quilt studio fills 1/2 of our spare room. Hubby has the other half, well truthfully 30% of the room is his. My Stash fills the closet and I have 3 sewing machines, a Pfaff Creative 3.0, a Pfaff Passport and a Singer Featherweight, which is all I need to make my tiny quilts. I love working in small scale and finishing lots of quilt every year instead of working for months on a large quilt. I have a short attention span and usually want to hurry up and start my next little quilt! The largest quilt I will make is a baby quilt and then only for someone very special (hopefully Grandchildren soon)!
