July Workshop 40 Fat Quarters Quilt with Mary Willis PQG member
This quilt is constructed with 2-1/2” strips from 40 different fat quarters 18” x 22”. (You can use yardage, but scraps will not work unless you have 6 – 2-1/2” strips of each fabric, at least 16” long.) I have made this quilt twice. Once with Halloween fat quarters and once with 40 different solid color fat quarters. You’re looking for contrast with your fat quarters. You’ll want to choose a variety of lights and darks, patterns and scale. I think it could be fun with Red, White and Blue, Christmas, Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Purple and Green, Black, White and Gray, etc. Use your imagination and have fun picking your fat quarters. Following the instructions, you will sew six panels together with up rows and down rows resulting in a quilt that measures approximately 72” x 78”. (Adapted from a class by Lynne Godin, former member of PBQG) Supply list: 40 Fat Quarters Sewing machine with ΒΌ” foot Rotary cutter with a new blade, cutting mat, and rulers Optional but very useful – Stripology XL Ruler by Gudrun Erla of GE designs, or June Tailor Shape Cut Plus Ruler Cotton thread, seam ripper, pins, scissors etc. Iron and ironing mat (pressing direction is key for this quilt so all of your seams will nest) Paper labels marked A, B, C, D, E, F. Another set of paper labels marked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. **Come to class with Six -- 2-1/2” strips from each of your 40 fat quarters ready to sew.** | Upcoming events
