Celebrate quilts from Mary Kerr's newest book, Twisted: Modern Quilts with a Vintage Twist. This fabulous collection features modern quilts that were created using vintage textiles. Join in the fun as Mary shares her unique approach that gives us permission to play with vintage textiles in new and exciting ways.

Mary is an American Quilt Society certified appraiser and an award-winning quilter. She grew up in a family of quilters and have been teaching since 1987.  She currently lectures and conduct workshops that focus on quilt history and the preservation of antique textiles. Her recent work marries her love of all things vintage with the freedom of expression that is encouraged in our Art Quilt community.

In addition, she is the owner of Pieced of Olde, a small business that specializes in restoration and repair of antique textiles. She lives outside of Washington DC with her husband, Ralph.

She is an active member of the Professional Appraisers Association for Quilters Textiles (PAAQT), the American Quilt Study Group (AQSG), American Quilters Society, Cabin Branch Quilters, Quilters Unlimited, Mason Dixon QPN, the Virginia Quilt Consortium, the Quilt Professionals Network, MMS, and several quilt dating groups in her area.

The workshop is packed full of tips for working with vintage fragments and ways to showcase these treasured pieces. Students are encouraged to bring their own vintage blocks and fragments or they may purchase a kit of their choice in class.

    Workshop Fee: $40 ($45 non-members)

Kits are $20- $30 depending on choice. Finished sizes will vary.

Enjoy quilts from Mary's book, Twisted: Modern Quilts with a Vintage Twist and become inspired to create your own Twisted magic!

    Pat Delaney

    "Under the Bedclothes"

We layer up our quilts with piecing, batting, backing and quilting, but the last, not so obvious, layer is often the story. Sometimes we know exactly what the quilter was thinking, but other times it is helpful to know the story under the bedclothes. A little background on the quilter herself will often fill in some of the blanks.

This presentation will show my quilts in the context of my journey to quilting and give a brief explanation of my inspirations and ideas. I love to bring lots of my quilts for you to look at, too!

Pat Delaney began sewing when she was five years old by creating doll clothes. A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, she completed a rigorous program of study in fashion design, in addition to numerous courses in color theory and drawing. Currently, Pat focuses on creating quilts and teaching these skills to other quilters. Her quilts have been displayed in many regional, national, and international shows, and she has won numerous awards and recognition for her work from every major quilt organization in the United States.

Pat’s quilts have been shown on the Discovery Channel and published in the Boston GlobeCountry Living Magazine, and the Brockton Enterprise. They have also appeared in Quilter, Quilt, Quilters’ Newsletter, American Patchwork and Quilting, and on the covers of American Quilter Magazine, AQS Catalog of Books, and Quilting Foundation Piecing. Her quilts have appeared in six editions of the Quilt Art Calendar.

Quilt the Mini: Sewing and designing techniques

    MACHINE SEWING WORKSHOP

Plan out fresh ideas for machine quilting by stitching out a mini, premarked wholecloth quilt.  The 16” x 16” size makes a doable project to be finished as a pillowtop or wall-hanging. Go beyond the usual, and refresh your ideas for traditional or modern quilts. You will find many designs to use on your next quilt-mini or full size.
