    Speaker:  Tammy Silvers

    Lecture:  "Seeing  Double"

Ever wonder - what would this quilt look like if I made it in another color way?  If I used plaids and stripes instead of florals?  Well, I can't tell you what EVERY quilt would look like, but we can explore some practical examples together!

In a fun format, we will compare quilts made in florals versus batiks, reproduction fabrics versus crisp modern prints, brights versus pastels.  Gather inspiration and insight into the choices for your next project!

Tammy Silvers has been quilting since 1991. Her background is art and literature. She’s taught at a variety of quilt shops as well as online. She has designed and self-published her own quilt patterns under the label of Tamarinis.

She enjoys working with almost any fabric. But her favorites are batiks, bold prints and chicken prints. She is a Georgia native and currently lives in Acworth with husband a grumpy dog and fat cats.

Under the label Tamarinis, her designs are regularly published in a variety of quilt magazines.  She also works with some of the major fabric manufacturers designing projects to showcase and promote their fabric lines, including Northcott and Fabri-Quilt.

You can find some of the Fabri-Quilt projects on the home page under the Shop/Free projects link. http://www.tamarinis.com

    FAUX CURVED PIECING

Do curves scare you?  Well, no worries here – this is a “faux” curved piecing project!  What do I mean by that?  You’ll see in class!  You’ll enjoy this easy take on the traditional Drunkard’s Path block.

Dutch Windmills - Create the illusion of complex curved piecing with this simple fusing technique.  Learn how to place floating circles so that you end with a quilt that has spin and movement without the difficulties of sewing curves.  Use up to 20 different fabrics and make a lap quilt or a wall hanging that will impress anyone who will see it.

Celebrate quilts from Mary Kerr's newest book, Twisted: Modern Quilts with a Vintage Twist. This fabulous collection features modern quilts that were created using vintage textiles. Join in the fun as Mary shares her unique approach that gives us permission to play with vintage textiles in new and exciting ways.

She grew up in a family of quilters and have been teaching since 1987.  She currently lectures and conduct workshops that focus on quilt history and the preservation of antique textiles. Workshop Fee: $40 ($45 non-members)

Kits are $20- $30 depending on choice. Finished sizes will vary.
